
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the neck that produces hormones that regulate metabolism. Thyroid hormones, such as triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), play a crucial role in controlling the body’s metabolism, heart rate, and body temperature. Women are more likely to develop thyroid problems than men, and thyroid hormone imbalances are a common health issue for women of all ages.
Symptoms of thyroid hormone imbalance
Thyroid hormone imbalances can manifest as either hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) or hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid). The symptoms of hypothyroidism can include:

On the other hand, the symptoms of hyperthyroidism can include:

- Sweating and heat intolerance
- Diarrhea
- Irregular menstrual cycles
- Tremors
- Insomnia
