Vaccines have been a tremendous tool in fighting serious diseases. Many of the current vaccines are e given to children to protect against debilitating infections. The DPT vaccine protects against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis); the MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps, rubella; OPV protects against polio; the HiB vaccine protects against Haemophilus influenzae type B infection.

Although vaccine use is safe, it can have some side effects just like other medications. Most side effects are mild. This happens from the natural response of the body while it works to build immunity against the specific disease. The side effects may last from a few hours to several days after vaccination. Homeopathic remedies to address vaccine side effects can provide a natural, safe, effective, and gentle management of symptoms that occur due to vaccination.

Side effects

Side effects may occur after receiving the inactivated poliovirus vaccine, DPT, HiB, or pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV). They typically begin within 24 hours of vaccination and include mild fever; pain, soreness, tenderness, swelling, or redness at the site of the injection; loss of appetite; diarrhea; vomiting; tiredness; sluggishness, and irritability; fussiness; secondary blister elsewhere on the body.

The MMR vaccine may cause side effects 6 to 10 days after receiving it. These include mild fever, measles-like rash, cough, runny nose, puffy eyes, swelling of salivary glands, and loss of appetite. The rotavirus vaccine may cause diarrhea, restlessness, abdominal pain, and irritability. Other side effects that can occur after vaccination include a small, red lump at the injection site. In some vaccines temporary headache, muscle or joint pain, runny nose, nasal congestion, trouble sleeping or drowsiness, and being sleepier than usual.

A very rare side effect may be a high fever and febrile seizures in young children. The chances of developing a febrile seizure after vaccination is higher is your child already has a history of seizure or you have a family history of seizures.
