In our series on the importance of the pineal gland, we have looked at its anatomy and function. It helps regulate our circadian rhythm, so it is crucial to our overall well-being. We need our sleep to regenerate and repair.

Now, let’s take a look at how to detox your pineal gland for optimal function.

Detoxification of the pineal gland

The pineal gland is a small endocrine gland in the vertebrate brain. It produces the serotonin derivative melatonin, a hormone that affects the modulation of wake/sleep patterns and seasonal functions. It is located near the center of the brain, between the two hemispheres, tucked in a small area where the two rounded thalamic bodies join.

The pineal gland is activated by light perceived through the retina, and it controls the bio-rhythms of the body. It works in harmony with the hypothalamus gland which directs the body’s thirst, hunger, sexual desire, and biological clock.

Activating the pineal gland can help you raise your awareness and move into a higher consciousness, which is why the pineal gland is sometimes referred to as the Third Eye.
