No one wants to feel that depression or anxiety is their fault, especially when they are in the thick of it. Many times it is not, but oftentimes, our thinking patterns do not help. Our beliefs and stories often box us in as well. It is so difficult to step back and truly see outside of one’s self. In this webinar, Dr. Jess aims to help us do just that. Step outside of the stories we tell ourselves and dig into the shadow self and inner child.
She believes the first step is to address the victim-perpetrator-rescuer triangle. Throughout life, we play these roles, and usually, if you are one, you can easily become the other two. Being aware of this brings attention to aspects of our character or personality that may have been hidden before. This is the first step in helping to dissolve the shame and blame in depression and the pressure and negativity in anxiety.
